Second Time Around

I made my second trip to Mystic Falls, aka Covington, Ga., yesterday. My cousin and her friend were awesome enough to join me. This was our second time going on a mission in order to scope out vampires. The Vampire Diaries films there for those of you who are completely confused with what I am talking about.

Unfortunately, I had a class in the morning, but we left immediately after. In addition to that, we got stuck in traffic due to flat tires on the interstate. We finally got there after about five hours of driving and immediately saw the signs of where they were filming.

We followed the signs and saw that they were filming at the cemetery. We saw several huge trucks that held the equipment and large white tents set up for the food and make-up area. There were already three other people standing in that area waiting, so it was six of us all together. Not that many fans there, so we thought we would surely get a picture. Nope. Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley and Nina Dobrev who play Damon and Stefan Salvator and Elena Gilbert had left a few hours earlier. Apparently they had early call times.

At this point, they were moving filming locations over to the Lockwood Mansion, which in actuality is only one block over - very convenient. We were able to see some pretty amazing things though. We saw Damon's car - the blue Chevy Camaro. We also saw the cast member's folding chairs that say The Vampire Diaries and their names on them AND their wardrobe being put into a truck one foot from where we were standing.

All that was left were a few scenes at the Lockwood Mansion. It was only Mia Kirshner and David Anders, who play Isobel Flemming and John Gilbert, filming. They were not there for very long at all. Maybe an hour or a little more. We never saw them come or go unfortunately. It seems to me like we were in the wrong places at the wrong time.

But one highlight is that we talked to the director of the show, Marcos Siega! He was in a rush trying to leave because it was a long day of work for him and it was cold outside. But that is still pretty cool. Plus, we saw all of the lights and cranes at the mansion of them filming.

Maybe we will try for a third time, afterall, the third time's a charm!

Met My Friend

When I say New York City, you say what? Ponder that for a minute. And what if I said NYC television show?

If you are like me, then Gossip Girl was probably one of the first things that popped into your mind. Who doesn't love it with the drama, fashion, fabulous lifestyles and love pentagons?

Of course when I went to NYC, I headed straight toward the Metropolitan Museum of Art - aka "The Met." In Gossip Girl, that was the "place to be." After school, on lunch breaks, or randomly meeting up, that is where you would find Serena Vanderwoodsen, Blair Waldorf and any of their friends.
Once my friends and I were free to roam around NYC after leaving our group, it was too close to closing time at the Met to go into it. For those of you who did not know, the Met closes at 5 p.m. on most days. That is pretty early, especially when you have your days filled. I have heard from several people that it takes hours upon hours to enjoy the inside and that amount of time only lets you see a fraction of the museum. The building is absolutely huge! So if you plan on taking it all in on the inside, give yourselves an entire day or three.

By the time we got there, it was night time and dark. It gets dark very early in NYC. I blame the tall buildings. They become the city's sunglasses. We went and sat on the steps and had our Gossip Girl moment. I do have to say something ironic. On our way to the Met, we passed private school girls in their little group with their fashionable clothes (a lot of plaid) and I looked at them and really wanted to take their picture or shake their hands - but I refrained. It was a cool feeling though, because it makes me realize that the characters in Gossip Girl really do exist. Well, not the exact characters, but you know what I mean.

So in this picture is my friend Jessica and me. I was wearing my "Serena" hat. It seemed appropriate!
